All eyes were on Masterchef last night when the last standing trio of culinary connoisseurs went knife-to-knife to take the winning title. Last night, NSW amateur Andy Allen took the Masterchef gong; he was just as surprised at his feat!
The 24-year-old beat dessert queen Julia Taylor and Sydney mum Audra Morrice in an Aussie-theme food finale. After Audra was eliminated in the entrée challenge, Andy was behind Taylor by two points but then snatched the winning spot after the first course test.
"I'm over the moon. I bet you no one would have picked me at the start to win - let alone two weeks ago. I'm so happy that I know my life will involve food."
Andy walks away with $100,000 in prizemoney and a recipe book deal
